Attack started a few minutes ago......Now Russia is on the clock waiting for their response.....

Re: OT- Trump attacking Syria

Terrible idea in my opinion. The evidence that the gas attack was perpetrated by Assad seems pretty thin to me. The gas was released by a helicopter and only Assad has helicopters? Please. Helicopters are ubiquitous. Plenty of people other than Assad have them.

Beyond that, what's the plan post-Assad? To make sense, it'd have to be 110% better than the plan post-Hussein or the plan post-Qaddafi, but you just know it's not. I doubt there's a plan at all.

Very disappointing, and a continuation of the warlike status quo so many Trump supporters hoped he'd change.

(None of which is meant to deny that Putin is a bully. I just think trying to prevent him from being a bully in his own back yard is quixotic.)

This isn’t the first time with Assad. Tired of seeing the innocent suffer because of this guy.

Supposedly his dad used poison gas on people, too.

That said, this is not a fight I feel able to pick sides in. I don't have the necessary information. The information I do have leads me to believe that if Assad is toppled there will be severe retribution against Shiites, Christians, and anyone else who isn't a Sunni Arab.

It’s a clear crime against humanity and it has to stop. The US has to do something and France and the UK are with us on this response. To me, it’s not about taking sides it’s about defending the innocent and sending a message that this will not be tolerated.

That's very reasonable, if you feel certain Assad was the perpetrator. Trump does, I guess.

I completely agree....

this ain' nothing more than a fireworks' clown show.....

all this will do is create more world tension towards the US and solve nothing moving forward....

never get involved in any conflict unless you intend to win 'something'....just like every other conflict we've gotten involved in since the 'deuce'....

how's one feeling about Iran these days.....

I'm sick of the US being the 'world police'......why do you think they hate us.....

The world needs the US (and France, Great Britain) to defend those that can’t defend themselves. Assad, Rocketman, and many ruthless leaders in the past would continue killing thousands of innocent lives if the US just sat on the sidelines.

BREAKING: Russian Embassy in the US on US-UK-France strikes on Syria: "Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible. The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries."

why not bomb LA, Chi-town, etc....???

you may not know this, but I'm a YUGE #henceDJT fan....

explain why the world needs the US to help those have been fighting for eons now.....why not let them self destruct.....

they bring nothing to the gloabal economic table....

how about let the surrounding territories deal with it and we focus more on gathering intellectual data to stay more than a half step ahead of the game?

we could wipe 'em off the planet if we wanted to....however, I'm of the opinion the USD is the more effective deterrent to leverage policy unless you're willing to continue wasting money on a losing horse....

we usually agree......however, we don't come close on this one.....

I'd rather have road, bridges, and sewers worth a shite and let them suffer in their phlegm.......I have zero sympathy for fighting a cause that may result in an even worse scenario......

For the record I am fine if we bomb LA.......and Chicago will just take care of itself......

Syria won’t stop at Syria......they will begin to attack our allies once they are done destroying the innocent within their own borders so thinking they will just self distruct and stop there isn’t logical.

Do we have our own problems to deal with (like failing infrastructure you mentioned), sure.....but how could we as Americans stand by and allow crimes against humanity happen because we need the pot hole fixed on Hardy Street?

Re: OT- Trump attacking Syria

This is just a mess. Presidents Washington and Eisenhower both warned against this sort of thing when they left office. We've suffered a lot of bad Presidents, but Washington and Eisenhower were worth listening to.

This just leads to further instability in the region. It’s next to impossible to vet any of these guys so getting a replacement for Assad could prove difficult.

Ike was our last solid president.....JFK wasn't too bad (basically a modern day 'phant), but this shite really started to go south with
LBJ.....that man fucked this country up worse than Carter and equal to ZERO's reign.....

Turbines don't like sand. You'd think a guy with a science degree from Annapolis would know that.

That said, while Carter was a bumbling mess, LBJ actively reengineered American society to be more socialist. Socialism can work well in some places, but it has not in the USA. It will always be a half-assed mess here.

The canonical example for me are public schools in Louisiana. The idea is that landowners pay property tax to fund a decent education system, and that's good for everyone.

Did the people of Louisiana embrace this vision? Hell no! They reacted to its existence by sending their kids to parochial schools and exempting most of the state from paying property taxes on their residences. So now you have a vestigial nightmare of a public school system, and everyone's either paying tuition instead of property tax *or* raising uneducated children.

That's American Socialism in a nutshell, and it's something LBJ embraced because he rightly perceived it would help his own party's narrow interests.

Re: OT- Trump attacking Syria

LBJ was a company man, plain and simple. It’s no conspiracy that Kennedy was going to pull us out of Vietnam. No war means no cash flow. War is big business for the economy. Anyone have a stop watch on how long it took LBJ to commit more troops once JFKs driver took that wrong turn?

My old admin assistant for years is the niece of former Governor Connally. The stories of her childhood, the assassination and the days that followed will make you throw up.......
