USM Football

Hope some of our younger fans learn about both of these coaches and our history this weekend....

Re: USM Football

Saw Curly speak two years ago when he came back. He made a few comments along the lines of regretting that he ever left USM. Don't remember exact words, but it was pretty cool I thought.

Re: USM Football

If Keon continues to be the “highlight” of today’s game any glimmer of optimism will cease to exist this summer......in fact don’t pay the deposit on the power washer for The Rock just yet......

Re: USM Football

First thought.......that’s awesome that the Cuban Cannon is lighting it up for almost 60 yards.......

Second thought....we got a guy named Bubba on offense?

Looks like the fans are in mid season form.

Sun-Herald coverage:

http://www.sunherald.com/sports/college … 99559.html

Howard was indeed the best quarterback on the field, leading the Gold offense on three scoring drives in the first half — two field goals and one touchdown.

Howard had a touchdown toss wiped off his stat line when Quez Watkins dropped a pass in the end zone in the first half. The junior from Laurel finished 11-of-15 for 132 yards passing and ran six times for 53 yards.

Howard did make one mistake when he threw a ball into traffic on an attempt to connect with Watkins, but the ball fell to the ground as a harmless interception.

Re: USM Football

Howard had Dawson, Tez, TRod, Quez, etc.  Jack had to split time with Marcelo and had the new guys at WR but had Payne and Anderson at RB.  Jack/Marcelo did have Jayshawn who right now has the best hands on the field.

I think playing Keon with the first unit isn't smart. I guess in a way he's earned it, and is sort of the incumbent. But everyone's seen enough of Keon to know what he can do. Give someone else a shot.

Re: USM Football

We are wasting Keon’s time by having him take reps as qb. He should be getting reps at another position on offense right now. Why can’t we recognize this and make the most of every player on this roster......

It's really a mystery. He's not going to play QB at the next level. Whether he could play something else is an open question. Might as well encourage him to explore that.

This staff brought in 27 QB's recently for a reason. Abraham and Marcelo need time to develop a chemistry with the offense. Howard had his time. Griggs is ahead of Howard IMO as well. Have Griggs fight for second string and use him as an added wrinkle in the offense for short yardage. Howards size, knowledge and experience can be utilized in another role as well.

This is what frustrates me with this staff.....loyal to a fault and they spend a ridiculous amount of time pissing around on a decision that needs to made now. Did they not learn this from last season? Commit to a qb and move forward so that we can focus on everything else minus our kicking game.......

This staff needs to act like 2018 is do or die and not act like we are trying to save a few pieces for 2019 and beyond........

I don't usually correct these, but that is not what I wrote. If Keon plays QB in the NFL, I will eat my houndstooth fedora.

In fairness to BDR, I did leave open the possibility that Keon could play in the NFL, albeit not at QB. I do think he could, if the stars aligned right, but being Hopson's anointed QB is not a part of that plan. BDR may just think he's too thick-skulled to do anything at all in the NFL. I don't know, I'm not a scout.

I texted Slacker about something unrelated to the board or USM not too long ago. He's alive and at large. I guess he really is just pissed that I wouldn't give him my Comcast login information.
