OT - Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12

Starting to pick up a little steam as a possibility. This would be a nice, not great win for a conference that has been trying to figure out how to move forward since Texas AM took off and Texas signed that conference crippling tv deal with ESPN. Apparently the PAC 12 has been having some issues which is fueling this possibility......

Re: OT - Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12

Summary: the PAC-12 may be vulnerable. They haven't won a national championship in football in 13 years. They didn't have a basketball team advance past the second round of the most recent tournament. The PAC-12 Network has been a disappointment, and their broadcast partners have treated them with indifference (Fox) and derision (ESPN).

In the most recent realignments, the Big XII, unlike the Pac-12, has been a loser. With the Big XII now outperforming the Pac-12 both on the field and financially, people are wondering if the tables have turned.

Beers couldn’t see the obvious if you taped it to a boat paddle and hit him in the face with it.

Re: OT - Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12

It will be interesting to see how the Pac-12 might respond to losing the Arizona schools. I can see them staying at 10 teams. They   are pretty high-and-mighty in that conference.

If they do try to backfill, the MWC and BYU are the obvious targets. This could ultimately cascade down to C-USA, with UTEP or maybe UTSA ending up in the MWC.

I'd like to think C-USA would prefer to be at 12 schools than bring in more dead weight. 13 is a more difficult number to deal with, I think. If C-USA loses UTEP only, I think NMSU would be a good addition. In fact, I would have much preferred NMSU over all the Sun Belt schools allowed into the fold. I think UTEP is in some sort of weird pissing contest with them.

Boise and BYU go to the PAC 12 if they lose both AZ schools. Rice and UTEP to the MWC. I think Liberty and either Troy or USA move to CUSA if all the other dominos fall.

BYU is probably a lock if they want in.

Boise State is a completely different type of school from the schools in the Pac-12, though. I can see them going for Colorado State instead. CSU has just built a new football stadium. I can see the Pac-12 taking a look at SD State, too. I do not necessarily think they'll just pick the school with the best football program.

Re: OT - Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12

I think Boise is the most appealing option available. They immediately provide a boost in football compared to AZ and AZ St.....Boise is 13-4 against the PAC 12 since 2006. Not sure Colorado will allow CSU to sit at the same table.

Good point about Colorado. Pretty sure Colorado and CSU are in two completely different systems, and there's definitely a pecking order there and probably not much collaboration.

Re: OT - Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12

I'm curious if anyone has ever been to an ASU home game.....

I've been to two.....

it was more fun trying to find the hookers after the game than talking with their fan base beforehand at the Hooters 400 yds away or their fans during the game....

Sun Devil stadium was easily one of the coolest constructs to visit relative to a pussified fan base...

however, if UFC was on, you'd have have to toss a punch to get a word in edge-wise....
