Back many years ago Dr. Lucas inquired about selling beer in the stadium. Since the state doesn't allow it, he was told no. Like him or not, he tried on that particular subject. I am paraphrasing but he "apparently" said something like, "They drink it in the tailgate area, why not make money selling it in the stands."

I think there was a time when Dr. Lucas had a pretty wide-open vision for USM sports (compared to what people have now, at least).

At some point, though, I think he became resigned to the fact that the ceiling was unfortunately pretty low and he decided to fight other battles and just run the programs as well as he could at whatever level they got to compete at.

Just my impression based on years as a casual fan trying to process all the innuendo and misinformation that surrounds any team.

People will watch anything if they can get hammered doing it. 

I notice that our official policy on alcohol is that it is not allowed "in the stadium".  Thank God the some of the Club seating areas are immune to this antiquated set of rules.

Alcohol is required to watch USM football since the hat left.

Sometimes that isn't enough.
