Finally, we're #1

https://herosports.com/college-football … mmits-ahah

What does this really mean ?  Hop & company really working hard ?  Throw enough against the wall and something will stick ?
We offer anybody and everybody ?  Beats the heck out of "Who else ya got" ???  Not sure so adult reasoning appreciated.

Re: Finally, we're #1

Its a numbers game that we will gladly play. We are giving offers to several 3 star kids that clearly have looks from P5 schools. You do this knowing that a small few will opt for a starting role on a team that puts athletes in the NFL and also plays the big boys several times over a four year career. We "verbally" landed two over the past month with QB Sam Saxton out of Austin, TX and OC Coker Wright out of Brookhaven.

I think this is mostly good. If it reflects a high level of effort on the part of the coaches, that's good.

That's what I thought as well.
Although they are few and far between, there are still a few kids out there that will remember who offered them first, or paid them attention before they were highly sought after.

OK I will bite.

G cut recruitment funding on Jeff which included postage. They had to pay for a lot of that themselves. It was one of Jeff's assistants that said, "Who else you got?", but he gets quoted.

Rumor was we could have hired that little teddy bear from the fabric softener commercials to be AD, but Giannini played the Jesus card and the bear was out. Oh, the missed opportunities...

The G charade was a classic TTT, but I'm partial to the Terry Don "AD for the day" debacle.

after Terry Don Phillips turned the job down, assistant Georgia AD John Shaffer was announced as the new AD but he later turned the job down as well.  A few days later Mclellan was announced as AD.

Why announce it if it's not a done deal? That's a real forehead-slapper there.

I got it from multiples that TD actually took the position, was here one day, saw the cluster, and moved on literally within 24 hours. Seems to've worked out for him. Hearing that, Ace and RTR's experiences with the situation, and seeing first hand what a circle jerk the institution is I have no issue believing or repeating it.

Yes terry don accepted the job, was announced, then changed his mind..... i heard the same thing, that he was literally the AD for 1 day.

I don't know why shaffer was 'announced' but he turned it down somehow.

Some things we will never know, like how E12loss was hired and who negotiated his contract.
