Junket or dunket?

https://twitter.com/USMDrB/status/10820 … 58405?s=20
First question: who paid for this cross-country extravaganza?
Second question: does this cozy little affair indicate JB could be our next AD?

Our new AD is definitely in that picture

Re: Junket or dunket?

Not too keen on the idea of Bower as AD, except for the fact that he could hardly be worse than the last 4 or 5.

What about Sonya? Did she turn down the job?

Re: Junket or dunket?

Appears his term on the CFP selection committee has ended, he's only 65, we very badly need some presence.

Re: Junket or dunket?

He is the last guy you want as your AD. How does a 65 year old retiree who golfs, fishes, wakes up whenever all of a sudden put in 60 hours a week to turn this thing around? You give the chair at The Gaylord Texan that he sat in for a couple of years on the CFP committee too much credit. The game, the coaches, the staffs, the operation, the connections, etc....have changed dramatically since he was required to show up on campus for a paycheck 11 years ago.

Ambassador for USM.........100000%

AD for USM...........hell no

Not gonna happen... No way in Hell! It would be like the Johnson of AD hires. We couldn't possible stupid enough to be entertaining this idea.... just disillusioned fans reaching.

I'm assuming the Sonya comment is a joke.

Time to shutter the doors if she is considered for AD.

Sometimes it’s best to keep ones mouth shut but never been guilty of that

I’d support Bower as next AD. He’d make more happen than the previous clowns
- respected among his peer group
- respected around all of college football
- has Contacts to bring money to the program. Granted not enough
- general fan will support his initiatives

Just my two pennies. Granted each point could be argued

I agree in principal, but I also doubt any of those clowns ever put in a 60-hour work week.

Re: Junket or dunket?

Interim came from Santa Clara University's athletic dept., right?

Not sure why I didn't just allow that from the start. Sounds like a good idea.

That is an interesting group photo of the top USM administration having dinner with Coach Bower and family.

Re: Junket or dunket?

Although the job could be his if he wanted it, and that has likely been floated, through a private sector eye and lacking additional details, this was ostensibly a huge junket - pres. and half the athletic dept. flying to California for the national championship game and living large on university funds with the thinnest facade of justification.

This really disgusts me. Don't poor mouth about the mean old P5 and all their money, do everything that matters on a shoestring budget, and then run off to California to screw around (and more likely, to sniff around for jobs).

For that matter, why are we talking about California so much lately? McGillis runs off to CA, our interim AD is from CA, Bower's having dinner with USM people in CA (like you could never catch Bower at a restaurant in Bay St. Louis or whatever).

I think a Hawaii Bowl-style uprising may be in order here...
