Re: HBD REL

Oh you're going straight to hell for that one.

General Lee, the first choice by Lincoln to lead the Union Army, chose to fight for his home state of Virginia instead.

People today can't wrap their mind around the concept of strong state government and weak federal government as designed in the Constitution.

The war over states rights took many good people on both sides.

History in today's schools doesn't teach this.

Re: HBD REL

Most of the acts Lee is famous for were done out of a sense of duty. This is why he is so misunderstood by people today. "Sense of duty" isn't really something people have anymore.

Probably, but not out of any sense of duty. I'd have gone for the adventure, the dope, and the Vietnamese chicks.

Re: HBD REL

I've been to Robert Lee's house.....it has a beautiful view. Never saw the hidden tunnels in the basement that Ben Gates found in National Treasure 2 when he kidnapped the President of the United States........on second thought maybe that was Mount Vernon and not Arlington.....

You ever want to see the south rise again, you can do it nightly at The Stone Mountain Laser Show with tickets starting as low as $10......when Stonewall Jackson and General Lee start moving on the giant rock you can hear the screams of life long confederate lineage crying for the return of the General. The passion of that southern moment can only be duplicated when one leaves the parking lot after a race at Talladega Motor Speedway.....
