Re: What’s the scoop??

Nobody seems to have heard a thing except for speculation that Les Koenning or Scott Walden might be promoted to OC. Either one would be as good as anyone else Hopson might get, but then you've got to backfill the position corch job.

The problem is that USM hasn't had an AD since Giannini who wasn't a dyed-in-the-wool beancounter. And it's not as if Giannini was a big spender anyway. So I would expect to see GAs become position coaches, and position coaches become coordinators, almost without exception, for the next few years at least.

Sad to say, hiring Dawson was the biggest news on that front since the Monken hire in 2013. Chip Lindsey was a high school coach when USM hired him.

Re: What’s the scoop??

According to Football Scoop we are hiring the former Charlotte SC named Durning. Supposed to be good...at least he has a resume as a Head Strength Coach at two schools with athletes in good shape.  Even if we don’t like this guy, at least we should see an improvement.

Looks like it's official:

Sounds like a potential winner. Strength coach was the opening that worried me the most.

Re: What’s the scoop??

Who was the guy EJ hired for S&C? Was he the real estate professional?

Getting hard keeping up with all these guys......

Steve Maples. Likely the worst D-I strength coach of the 21st Century.

Zac Woodfin was a big part of Monken's successful 2015 season. Can't remember the name of the guy between Maples and Woodfin... big, bald black man who was a bit of a flake.

Sajason Finley followed Woodfin, I think. I thought he was pretty bad in his 2017. I believe that was his first year. I didn't perceive S&C as quite that bad last year, but I wouldn't call it a strength.

Re: What’s the scoop??

These two pretty much say it all:

I don't have any real EJ stories, but I did go to two home games that year and I remember the crowds being relatively large and enthusiastic compared to more recent games. I also remember that team looked very small.
