Les Koenning gone to Kansas

Most experienced offensive coach on a depleted USM staff, and he's gone. He'd been OC at a handful of P5 programs, including Mississippi State. Pretty much paves the way for Scott Walden to take the OC job, if USM can even keep him.

There was talk of Les and Scotty sharing the OC title and duties next season. Hate to lose him but definitely don’t like shared titles in any business model. Let’s Go Scotty. Make it official, Hop.

Yeah, I don't like shared titles in that job.

Les would have been a proven commodity on a pretty depleted staff, but he was also officially just a position coach at a G5 school yesterday. So the move is definitely a big promotion. Even if Hopson had handed him the OC job outright, he probably would have left anyway.
