Tyler Cleveland

Keep this young man in your thoughts as he was let go from the Hattiesburg American today. They are apparently "shuffling" how they will cover sports going forward. Nick Suss responded to the changes as well stating, "For what it's worth: Southern Miss coverage isn't going to go away. There's a plan in place. It's just going to be reshuffled a bit. We aren't going to go dark on #USM by any stretch of imagination."

I worked for Gannett twice in my career including at the Hattiesburg American back in the 90's and you knew then that newspapers were a dying industry. They never really adapted to the changes in social media and all young journalist need to find a way to separate themselves and be more social media savvy. Thats what makes Nick Suss successful right now. Best of luck to Tyler. You will find something more rewarding down the road.

"There was a great deal of character on that field today. They are for real, no doubt about it. This was no fluke." - Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant
