Re: The AAF

Childress got a job with the Bears. OK, that makes sense.

Re: The AAF

Ugh, those tarps are so silly. I dream of a world without tarps like some people dream of world peace.

Re: The AAF

Two former Southern Miss rival coaches on staff for Birmingham in Steve Logan(ECU) and Rick Minter(Cincinnati). Memphis Coach is former Bear Mike Singletary.

Ratings from last night have the AAF beating the NBA game of the week on ABC. So far it’s getting positive reviews for quality of games and production delivery by CBS.

Re: The AAF

The AAF missed an opportunity by not using former USFL team names. Would have drummed up a little more excitement if they used:

The San Antonio Gunslingers
The Memphis Showboats
The Orlando Renegades
The Birmingham Stallions
Arizona Outlaws

Can’t imagine licensing would have cost that much. Still love the 30 for 30 on the USFL when Rick Neuhisel was the QB for San Antonio which was owned by a local car dealer who was almost broke. They were a few weeks behind on payment to the players and during the middle of a practice they got a check from the owner. The deal was it could only be cashed by one bank located just outside of the city. Rick said all of the players immediately left practice and jumped into their cars and raced to that bank knowing that probably only a few of their checks would actually cash.

During one particularly bad Saints game in the later Haslett years, I tried to start a "Bring Back the Breakers" chant in section 637. There weren't really enough people there for it to gain traction.

Re: The AAF

No kickoffs or PATs which is also great. 35 second play clock. Games coming in around 2.5 hours on average.
