That it’s absolutely dumb to do these 10+ year contracts.....

Harper, 26, signs a 13 year deal for 330 million. All that wait time when he had an original offer for 300 over 10 on the table forever with the Nats and probably the Dodgers. Yes, he ends up getting 3 more years and 30 million but he ends up making $4.6 million less per season over the next 10 years. No opt out, no trade clause. Phillies will regret this probably by year 4 of 13.....

Especially in the NL.

When Pujols contract came up and he wanted 10 years, I was glad STL took themselves out of contention early.

Think what it would have done to them had they signed that albatross of a contract with a player who now really can't play the field at all.

Heard speculation today that this is a sign that the DH rule in the NL is imminent. I sure hope not.
