Makes too much sense.

It would just be a more expensive way to determine that UCF, Cincy, and Boise State (for example) are much better than USM, FIU, and Bowling Green.

At least this guy somewhat gives a crap. Gilbertini was all too happy to play Kentucky in front of 1400 people.

Dumbass folks like my self thought it was stupid back when they were building the expansion, and not pushing for at least 40,000 seats. Shows how much I know.

I still think it was stupid to build an expansion without increasing capacity in a meaningful way.

How frickin' hard is it to squeeze in 7,000 more seats? 40,000 seats on campus looks pretty good on paper. 36,000 looks like Troy.

And who knows how many people might show up to upend conference opponent / national champ UCF?

Re: New marketing campaign

I remember we couldn’t sellout for Texas AM or even top 10 TCU with everything on the line so expansion beyond 35K is pointless.

The best baseball only park in the majors is PNC in Pittsburgh and it’s not even close. It’s got to be the smallest park in the majors with under 40K seats. Its small and it’s awesome. It’s impossible for a city the size of Hattiesburg to consistently fill a 36K venue so it goes back to knowing who you are and acting it. Build the best 30K with luxury suites and amenities and actually have a Gameday experience vs staring at vast areas of exposed concrete seats and wondering why......

If where we are now is really the end game,  and we'll never have more fans, or better opponents,  or better coaches,  or better athletes... then we might as well shut it all down and bulldoze the whole thing.

Re: New marketing campaign

The Yurt is going to need some serious coin to make a decent dent in that historically dated venue. The taco tax isn’t going to go far unfortunately but it’s money we didn’t have prior so we will take what we can get...

The FBS Championship is played in a 20K newly renovated stadium. It’s always jammed and it’s one of the better game experiences for non P5. North Dakota St has been there like 6 out of 7 years and always travels well because the experience is second to none. You can still enjoy the game and atmosphere without 40K in the house.

MTSU's whole stadium looks temporary, like something put up for Voodoo Fest that will be thrown away as soon as Cowboy Mouth is done.

I like the MTSU stadium daycare setup run by a guy that shouldn’t be allowed within 100 ft of anyone under the age of 14 but got off on a technicality because lawyers didn’t process the paperwork properly and the judge couldn’t honor the arrest.....

Is that what the little area in the foreground with the cornhole game is? There are so many things wrong with that idea if so.

Troy was kind of a death trap too, to be honest. I didn't want to jinx things by bitching, but just getting around that place was worthy of a Tarantino movie. The only Mike's Hard Lemonade I could find before the game was grape-flavored.
