Re: 2020 FB Sched.

Here's another TTT moment and what I just don't get..... If CUSA and USM are trying to make this big rivalry with LaTech, which IMHO they're not a rival but that's another topic, then why in the hell do they schedule it the second game of the season? Wouldn't you want it to be played late or maybe even the last game during rivals week? I swear we could screw up a wet dream.

Easily see 5 losses on that schedule. Auburn, FAU, Liberty, WKU and toss ups with La Tech, UNT and UAB.

No Quez, no Harris, no Adams, no secondary, no offensive line, no running game, no chance.

Tired of hearing, "but Jack will be back as a senior". Somebody please tell me why a guy that can't score points after halftime is a valuable asset for 2020? Do we keep blaming everyone around him next season as well?

Re: 2020 FB Sched.

By October 3rd we should know if we even have a chance at Winning the West which has been said is Jeremy's goal for Hop to keep his job (should have been the goal in year 3 or 4, not 5).  We could easily be 1-4 heading into FAU.  If that's the case, will Jeremy cut Hop loose during the year and let Billings or another finish the year?  Of course not but there's a strong chance that will be our record if changes are not made to the staff soon. And 1-5 after FAU wouldn't surprise me at all.  Yah, I don't even have confidence that Hop can beat South...

Truthfully, what I'm really afraid of is Hop winning 8 games, getting raise, extension, etc simply because of some decent juco signees actually producing on-field despite an anemic coaching staff.  Then what?  Most of the coveted recruits have already transferred for not getting playing time.

The schedule next season is very Rock friendly in September which probably contributes to Hops continued employment right now. I expect 22K for the opener. Maybe something like that for La Tech. JSU will be around 25K unless Hop starts 0-2 then closer to 20K. The USA Jags are a dumpster fire the last few years and their coach will be on the hot seat going into 2020 even if Hop isn't. He gets paid $100K more than Hop currently. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they hang around long enough just like Monroe did two years ago and snake bite us. That said I don't see Jeremy firing Hop during the season. Having one of these assistants going .500 for the remainder of the season would have the same result if Hop goes 8-9 wins next year.

I stand alone in thinking something is still going to happen and a change will be made before next season, I'm dumb like that...... The financials just don't add up at all. If all you owe Hoppy is half of his remaining contract(minus any future earnings with another employer) how do you not see that easily offset by slightly stronger ticket sales in the fall? If you are writing a $21K check monthly for Hop the next 24 months(probably reduced more by future earnings) you are talking 2,000 more seats per game over the next two seasons. If you get me another up and coming assistant coordinator at $750K per season you don't bankrupt a department and the potential revenue gained is worth the move.

Unreal.....

Re: 2020 FB Sched.

We all know that but it will take Jeremy until then or even longer before he realizes why his stadium is empty and how/why he lost more EC boosters that will not be coming back.  I do believe McClain's legacy at USM will be set in stone with Hop's performance next year.

Re: 2020 FB Sched.

Why wait? He’s already been paid north of $200K to make some important decisions. Facts, not future potential, show Ladner isn’t showing any positive results so far after 17 games. Attendance at The Rock has shown the product is terrible.
By the time we see Hop suck again Jeremy will have been paid 15 months salary. In what business do you need 15 months to figure out someone’s value?

But hey, that fake dirt looks legit at The Pete.........

As someone who briefly played outfield on the football practice field I would like to know how an outfielder knows they have hit the warning track when it is the same material? Is he supposed to look down at the color of the turf?

Re: 2020 FB Sched.

I don't want to be too negative. I'm sure it was badly needed from a drainage standpoint, and it looks pretty good. I'm just not a fan of turf surfaces.

I did a few minutes of digging and found this. Now, I have no idea what the specs are on our field, but hopefully the "dirt" areas are similar to this.

Tennessee has real dirt on their mound. We have Traffic Master stain-proof coloration that comes with a 5-year limited wear and tear warranty and a 1/2 in. thick carpet pad available for $3.85 a sq ft with free installation if you act now before the end of the month at Home Depot........

Oh it was worse than that. We couldn’t practice on the field IN THE SPRING because the football team was on it. We had to dive across town to a muni park that was worse than the Dixie Youth played on. And believe it or not, Pete Taylor never showed up until the first game we played. He didn’t even know half the guys names. That park being named after him is a true testament to TTT.
