Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

Lets see.....we went from 20th to 37th in the nation in total defense, giving up 10 more touchdowns than in 2018. As for Buster, our offense went from a ranking of 43 to 63, scoring 6 less touchdowns and 300 yards less in 2019.......with an experienced team returning.

Well it's time to say goodbye my friend
I'm glad you stayed until the end
I hope that you've enjoyed the time we spent

Man... Faulkner to Georgia seem like a done deal.

Guess they'll just have to find even more mediocre coaches with an even stronger desire to "be here."

Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

Giving the job to the young and hungry coach whose position groups have consistently outperformed the rest of the team would make sense. With that being said I’m guessing Hopsom hires Nevil Barr or some stupid shit like that.

Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

We didn't score touchdowns against good teams, we scored only one touchdown against a 6-6 team and we barely scored two touchdowns against 0-8 Rice. Tell me how Buster leaving really damages this potent offense?

Hop will now have his third OC in three years. I can see that making sense if we are winning but you go 6-5(should be 6-6 since we ran away from rescheduling App St) and 7-6 and you are losing coordinators.

I have a legitimate concern Hop is going to hire someone from the SWAC to fill this vacancy......

Great opportunity to do it right this time.

Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

The Little Engine That Couldn't

Got tired of having coaches poached by the Alabamas and LSUs of the world, so they decided to higher the older, slower, and cheaper who'd maybe stick around. But the ironic end result is that they put such utter shit on the field that they got kicked out of the Locomotive Club and now have their people poached by ECU and Louisville.

There's a life lesson there. Maybe those Boys & Girls Club knuckleheads in the upper deck playing slap and tickle and cheering for the other team will get something out of the experience after all (e.g. a strong urge to hop on I-59 North and never look back).

I don't get how we finish the season with a 3 game losing streak and get beat in those games by an average score of 31-13.....
Then lose the OC and DC .... smh

I'm guessing these changes were strongly suggested. Probably last ditch effort to buy Hop another year or, gag, two.

Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

Bower 2.0, replace OC yearly but nothing changes because he throttles the offense, thinking he can still win games with defense circa the 1990s.

Re: USM co-defensive coordinator headed to Louisville

Who does the NIT team recommend?

"I don't think being in the 6th best conference is too bad."
"Look for Crickets Robertson to be one of the first 64 players chosen in the draft."
"Went to Starkville and came within one bad throw of taking the series."
