I've heard the Thurs/Fri rumor.....but why? If this individual is coming from another program in the same role are they keeping it hush hush so their signing day recruits can't make a change?

Is Hop and Co. keeping it hush hush so any of our recruits can't change their minds?

Would love to hear Hops explanation if they do announce the O coach a day or two after signing day

well.... last thurs-friday has passed.... now we are all the way to this week's thurs-friday.... still no OC

seriously, how many d1 schools out there without a DC or OC? at this time of year.... smh

Maybe he'll just decide to do the coordinator stuff himself and hire a head coach.   smile  …. well - I can dream, can't I.... roll

"Hopson said he was grateful for his assistants and plans to find folks with similar attitudes and capabilities.

Well damn - I was hoping we would get some with better attitudes and capabilities, but maybe we're happy with being in the middle of the worst conference.
And I guess he thinks coaches like Saban, Swinney, and Orgeron are just figureheads.  If that's the case, I'll take a figurehead any day. Besides, I think he just admitted he's not even a good coach.  roll

So, BYU going somewhere? hmm

Can you add a line of people, or a crowd standing around waiting? Or were you going for the realistic version?

We really do have a problem trying to live in the past.  sad

""Without addressing our aging infrastructure, the university will likely face a decline in our competitiveness," Bennett said."

Will face a decline?  I almost laughed out loud on this one.

Why do women beach volleyball players wear bikinis while men wear shorts and tank tops?

Obvious answer: Because no one would watch if the men wore bikinis.   sad

I can't believe an article was written on this topic (well, actually not surprised in today's environment), and it's even worse that I clicked on it out of curiosity. But here it is since I heard Southern Miss was getting a team:

This is an interesting statement:

Even with all the wiretaps and documents, the feds are still catching up on how it all worked. “The craziest part of it all is that they could have walked into one of 15 agent’s offices and it’s just as bad,” said a source with direct knowledge of the situation. “It just would have been other people and other schools.”

Did not see this posted so I thought you all might want to read it. Basketball as we know it may be changing...

I can't think of anyone that I know that roots for a G5 school (other than USM, of course).

"Know" being the key word in your statement.  I do know a few MTSU and Memphis fans.... but, considering I live in Middle TN, that's really not too impressive. hmm

#12 Re: Southern Miss » Judy on the adequacy of college football's playoff, and on Bigfoot? » 2018-01-10 08:50:50

They can call it whatever the hell they want to call it - but it's not a f-ing playoff. It's a money scam set up for the teams that draw the most money to play. To call it a playoff is a joke. A team that didn't even win it's conference championship, playing for the national championship?  roll

Sorry Ace, I'm new here and ended up clicking the TTT icon on your message - Not even sure what it means yet.

Sure wish we could cancel that Alabama game in 2019 and get BYU home and home back. If there was any resemblance to a fair game here, I would not feel that way. But the SEC refs don't even treat other SEC teams fairly when playing Alabama, so I have no wish to send our boys there just to get the check.  And C-USA refs are so bad, I've seen better high school refs, so I'm not so sure I blame Bama for not wanting them there either. Although, we'd probably still be the ones screwed in the end.

Kentuckys financial agreement with Dawson expires in June. We have been paying him 50K per season and Kentucky has been paying him 500K. Once the UK money runs out we either try to keep Dawson at a significant pay cut (our total Asst coaches pool is 800K) or he goes somewhere else for more cash. The top 10 assistants in CUSA average around 260K per season. Do you increase his base 200K to keep him or do you spend 200K -250K on another coordinator?

Are we finished paying Ellis Johnson for destroying our program?  If so, it seems we could pay our assistance a bit better.
