This season brought us some much-needed entertainment, and even a measure of pride.
As Cortez Edwards moves on to whatever is next, let's reflect on what he did at USM. This is a man who knows his basketball. He's the single-season steals leader at USM, and I don't remember a game without him in the last four seasons. That he racked up points by the dozen for four long seasons hardly requires mention.
Kevin Holland is leaving USM. He is another player who was there every night for years, in difficult times. At his best he was a "lights out" shooter, and even tonight he made 2 of 3 from three point territory.
Tyree Griffin is the third star saying goodbye. Tyree was the ringleader at USM, and a ball thief. Scratch the surface of any USM victory this year and you will find him smiling back at you.
A lot of these players' work was done quietly, in a time of (justified) fan cynicism and apathy. If USM didn't turn the hardwood corner this year, I hope the corner is at least visible to some of us.
Bring back Reed V. "Pie" TurkPalmer Eustachy.
