CBS, MSNBC, CNN, NBC on Monday - China tariffs clobber US Stock Market. U.S. stocks had their worst day in four months on Monday after a series of escalations in the U.S.-China trade war. The Dow lost 617 points, or almost 2.4%, closing at 25,324. The S&P 500 lost 2.4% while the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite lost 3.4%. Last week, tensions escalated between Washington and Beijing, starting with a tweet from President Donald Trump on Sunday, May 5. Trump threatened further tariffs on Chinese imports, and his administration followed through on Friday, when it raised tariffs to 25% from 10% on some $200 billion worth of imported goods from China.
