Birmingham Bowl: Texas Tech vs. USF

Pulling for Texas Tech in this one. Never could stand USF. They get to play on easy mode.

There are some really distracting-looking tarps behind one end zone. Never been a fan.

Every time I look at the other board, that's one big thing that stands out: the sheer desperation of the AAC posters.

There's a bit of blowback from the CUSA people, but every other thread on the AAC board is "hurr durr, P6 this, G4 that."

I have no issue with the claim that the AAC and the MWC are better than the rest of us, but I'm also a big proponent of "acting like you've been there before."

Also, I see no real separation between the AAC and the MWC. The AAC has some residual East Coast arrogance from its Big East roots, but that's about the only justification I see for that claim.

Can't argue with that. Temple up there, too, with all their "oh, no, we might have to share our beloved Big East with a team from Hattiesburg, MS!" horse manure.

ECU fans were OK until they sniffed a few molecules of Big East air. The change was dramatic, like getting a mogwai wet.

I will agree with you about the state of NC. Charlotte has some kind of weird inferiority complex and they try to ameliorate it by saying they're "really not part of the South culturally" or whatever. OK, guys...

Oui should have worked with Louisville in those early days The AD at Louiville and Howard had it right. They said no to ECU. Bower said no to USF and UAB. Oui ran ok for a few years, then fired Dollar Bill, Lucas retired, hired Fleming, G and the car dealers and oui were sunk. It's been down hill since.

Agree 100%.

Howard's comments about the formation of CUSA were right on the money, and he voted on CUSA with his feet.

Yeah, you can say he was in it for the money, but Louisville ended up in a better conference than the Big 8 soon enough, and Howard saw that coming.
