Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

Lots of good ideas here. Y'all should organize some sort of demonstration or outreach effort at the next home game.

And has anyone actually paid a CUSA exit fee? I thought we let everyone off the hook for some reason (stupidity?).

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

Every home year wouldn't be great but every other year you could end with a home schedule like:
Memphis
UCF
SMU
NC State
Mid. TN
ULL
*Throw in the possibility of a Louisville/Houston/BYU/MSU type home and home replacing one of the above.

Compare that to this years home schedule
Kty
Southern
UNT
UTEP
UAB
Charlotte

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

The AAC is not going to play us anymore (except Tulane). Neither are Louisville or NC State in Hattiesburg. Would need to make that a 1-1 or 2-1 deal with our game in NOLA to even have a chance of them getting to agree to that.

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

2 whore games + 1 two for one gets you at least 5 home games because your other 9 games are 1 FCS and 4/4 H/Hs. Every 3rd year you'd get a 6th home game in NOLA. Play 3 whore games and you're looking at 4 home games sometimes.

Revised:

- 1 FCS guarantee
- 2 whore games
- 1 two for one, where we get a smaller payout for the 3rd game
- 3 indy H/Hs
- 5 G5 H/Hs

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

I disagree.  I think we can easily get 2 or 3 AAC games a year........  Tulane/Memphis/ECU/UCF/USF/SMU/Tulsa.  Not a problem.  Now Louisville might be, just cause we own them.

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

Remember when we were in a conference with East Carolina, Houston, Cincinnati, Louisville, TCU, Memphis, Tulane, etc. and we all used to bitch about how bad and beneath us that CUSA was?

I don't think being in the 6th best conference is too bad. Being in the 9th best conference is definitely shit. How many people could even name 9 conferences?

Re: Declaration of Independence (from CUSA)

Talked to my dad about independence earlier today. He seemed OK with it, but asked "well, how are we going to schedule for volleyball or tennis?". I explained that the other sports would join the Southland, "ya know with UNO, McNeese, and SELA." He thought that was depressing, until I told him that the Southland put as many teams as CUSA in the basketball tournament (1) and baseball tournament (2). He seemed fine with the idea of independence after this.
