With our schedule and returning talent next season, we “should” get to double digit wins. If you avg 32-35 points per game, you will have calls from the ECU’s, Tulanes, Nevada’s and Bowling Greens this time next season.
I see this a lot lately. You're selling USM short. Why would an OC who's succeeding that well at USM leave for Bowling Green, ECU, or Nevada? Those places aren't exactly Grand Central Station when it comes to the coaching profession.
I think a move to a P5 assistant coach job is much more likely. If you're coaching in the G5, and you're not a has-been (Tommy West, Rickey Bustle, etc.) then you've got your eyes on building a resume and getting to a truly higher level. USM is at least as good a place to do that as BGSU. Bouncing around to other, marginally better G5 schools doesn't strike me as a good career move.
Not selling USM short, just realistic when it comes to income. Making 200K in Hattiesburg vs one million in Greenville, NC is a big difference.
On a related point, I would love to know how pathetic our offer was to Chip Lindsay seeing that he recently interviewed with South Alabama.......
Believe we had a chance to hire Lindsey, but McGillis fucked up. Rumor is that he would have taken the job had he been offered after the interview, but McGillis wanted to keep interviewing people instead. IDIOT.
