LFed dumpster fires

Check out the records....standout year in his 4th year at both schools.  Then boom....  We went 0-12 and 1-11 the next two years after lfed left us a dumpster.   He has go e 8-5 and now 1-8 his last two years at unc.   Tells me something.  He has had two really good years in 10 as a head coach.  All smoke.

Re: LFed dumpster fires

What's going on at UNC does tend to vindicate the people who say Fedora left us a house of cards.

Re: LFed dumpster fires

How does it vindicate that?    He's done more at UNC while on probation than most of their coaches had done while NOT on probation.   AND UNC isn't a football school.   He's having one bad season....many believe due to players injured and the draft last year.   He had over 20 players sit out a game two weeks ago.  That's crazy.

Fedora did exactly what he was hired to do at USM....win a championship, he did while giving us the most wins in a season ever and then he left.   we haven't won a championship (even in this watered down horrible league) since.     3 coaches since Fedora, NO CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hell, I hope Fedora is let go at UNC.....then maybe we can entertain the idea of bringing him back.  There was more excitement in those 4 years with our program than in the last 20.

I tried to 'like' this but it won't let me.

Hell, even hop to the top could have won 6 games in 2012.

The players knew immediately EJ was a bust.  It has taken almost 2 years for them to figure out hop is a bust.

99beers already made the case. I don't completely buy it. I tend to think Fedora was exactly what we needed when we hired him, and that our error wasn't firing Bower, it was failing to bring the same aggression and enthusiasm to the 2012 coach search as we did in 2009.

I've never heard it put that way, but it makes a lot of sense. Two other considerations:

1. By the year 2010 in college athletics, you must have the common sense to know that a successful coach is going to attract attention, and it is very likely that an up-and-coming coach took a stepping stone job to get to next rung in his career plan. So, as a university athletic dept, you HAVE TO BE PREPARED for that eventuality. Always have a short list. Do not get caught without a plan.

2. It's simple. If you are pleased with the current success of the program, you hire or promote a coach who will use the momentum to continue right on down the path. You do not go out and bring in the complete opposite personality / skillset to replace the successful coach.
If the football program was in the shitter, and spiraling, THAT's when you look for a sea change type of coaching hire. Not when the team just had its best season ever.

Stop trying to make him out as some great coach, he isn't, or wasn't.  He never won a cusa championship.  His records at usm were 7-6, 7-6, 8-5, and a 11-2.  One really good year does not make a coach.  He has had his run........nobody wants him anymore.  Just proved out to be an average coach.  Again, 1 really good year at UNC.....blah blah.......

There seems to be some validity there but I do think most any coach could have won 6-7 in 2012 other than the farce that was EJ.  And I completely agree with the "have someone ready" mentality.  Not just when you have an up-and-coming young coach but all the time.  Always have a plan to move on a moments notice without missing a beat.  What Martha did/allowed was pure buffoonery!  Everyone involved displayed their idiocy.

Son of Dixie always referred to Fedora as "Big Cock Larry, the Snake Oil Salesman" because he was always parading around like he had the biggest dick in the room selling everyone on a pipe dream.  I liked Larry but he was a bit excessive with:  Pack the Rock, 30K for the Spring Game, ATTACK in all 3 phases of the game, etc...

Still sleeping with a Dixie Darling!

Great coach or not, I think the Eagles won the C-USA championship in 2012 when we beat Kevin Sumlin's Houston Cougars, then ranked #6 nationally.

No No No, you dang Fucktard.....(there....the trifecta).  We never won a damn game in 2012.  Never forget it.  We won the C-USA championship in Houston in 2011.  Although, we came close to winning one by losing to UTEP by one point in 2012.

Re: LFed dumpster fires

Fedora had the attitude that we needed and still need at USM. As a head coach at a P5 school with the advantages and challenges that entails, I have no idea how good he is compared to other coaches. But he was a good fit at USM. We just did everything 100% wrong after he left.

Re: LFed dumpster fires

Is he a world beater?  No.  Not by any stretch.

Is he 100x better than this shit show?  Yes.  100x is underestimating the difference.

Would I take him back?  Stupid question.
